Description

A fine (90+% lacquer) original, red ocher paint over mahogany barreled pocket telescope by Dollond of London. Measuring just 5 1/2 inches (14 cm.) closed, 1 1/4 inch (3 cm.) green, flint glass object lens with sharp and powerful optics ( at least 20 X magnification), original lens cap and pivoting, ocular lens protective cover. Extends to 20 inches (50 cm). One small area of paint missing on the barrel. No dents or bruises and a tight fitting 3 draws. Remarkable condition for the age. c.1820.
