Description

A fine single draw telescope with a 2 inch doublet object lens and squared off collar, attributed to Dollond c.1820.

Black leather bound, removable sliding end cap, ray shade and sliding ocular dust cover, this hand held refractor has superb optics with an estimated 20 X magnification. A couple of minor knocks but a fine survivor of the era. 20 inches closed, 39 inches extended.

Most of the telescopes c.1800 have an ogee collar and this one is flat and squared off. Although unsigned, it schmecks of the work of Dollond. Single draw is nice and tight as are all of the tolerances. Used but not abused.
