26.5 cms ( 10.5″ ) diameter, signed on the arc, ‘ Lorieux Ponthus et Lepetit a Paris 212’, engraved on the arm and brass plaque to case, ‘Service Hydrographique 57’. The scale is engraved from 0 – 180 ( clockwise & anti-clockwise) with magnifyer and thumb wheel adjusters to the vernier. Some deterioration to the black enamel finish in areas. The two mirrors are in good condition; the case holds a further 2 spare mirrors, 2 telescopes & eye-piece filters, various sun filters etc. There are a couple of cracks to the case, the lock and handle are present. Circa 1890.
