Description
A good signed Cary pocket microscope c.1800. Housed in it’s flame mahogany case, it has all of it’s three stacking lenses (all beads intact), live box, two bone sliders, pin probe, hand and stage forceps and can be used as a simple or compound microscope. Body tube shows lacquer wear (40% intact) but otherwise in fine condition with excellent rack and pinion motion and 1 inch silvered mirror. Both hooks intact on case and a brass ferrule on the edge to accomodate the upright stem signed in script “Cary, London”. Case measures 3 1/2 x 3 x 1 1/2 inches (9 x 7 x 3 cm.). This was Cary’s smallest but most collectible model.
