A good cased selection of 144 microscope slides, mostly botanical, all professional mounts by various makers.
9 1/2 trays of 12 by either Wilks or Utley of the Manchester Microscope Society c. 1890 with hand written blue labels. Excellent. Additional 2 1/2 trays of 12 slides by Barnett, Topping, Beck,Wheeler, Dauer and Lister. Age range is from 1850-1950. Subject matter is botanical except the last (top) tray which are insect parts (some whole mounts) including two rare ? green paper, thick mounts of the elusive Aeshna sp. dragonfly previously unknown to the UK (fore and hind wing mounts). 144 slides in total housed in a pine box measuring 21 x 21 x 8 cm. deep with good hinges and closure hooks to the front.
