18 x 16 x 8 cm.
Country of manufacture
A good pair of Carl Zeiss, Jena 6 x 30 mm. Silvamar binoculars with original Bausch and Lomb leather carrying case with compass to the outside of the lid. c.1916. A WWI necessary collaboration of optical companies producing one of the finest functional binoculars, even by today’s standards. Lens and prism combination gives excellent, clear optics. Focussing is accomplished via the eyepieces ONLY, allowing for differing visual acuity. Eyecups and compass in the lid of this pair would indicate marine use. The excellent leather case was retailed by Bausch and Lomb and the compass (unlocks by rotating the bezel) is likewise signed Bausch and Lomb Optical Co., Rochester, N.Y.
There is wear to the anodized brass at the areas of hand contact but otherwise in excellent condition as is the carrying case having neck, shoulder and belt straps, all intact. The compass is fully functional and points North. Used but NOT abused.
