Butterfield type horizontal brass sundial.

The top of the upper plate is engraved with four 4-12-8 hour scales (two in Arabic numerals and two in Roman numerals) for the latitudes of 40/45/50 degrees. In the center a decoration of foliage scrolls with the signature “DELURE A PARIS”. Folding gnomon with a bird decorated with foliage scrolls, one side of which bears an engraved latitude scale from 40 to 60 degrees.
In the lower part there is a compass whose bottom is engraved with the cardinal points with a fleur-de-lis surmounted by a blued steel needle with a brass pivot. All covered with a glass.
The underside of the plate is engraved with a list of 20 cities with their latitude and the bottom of the compass with six cities with their latitude.
The spring of the gnomon is decorated with foliage scrolls and pine cones (rare). Small brass baluster foot.

Case in black shagreen, purple velvet (rare) inside
