Description

A large lacquered brass telescope with a 3 inch objective lens, mounted on a taper column stand with cabriole legs, the end collar signed, ‘Dollond, London’.

Extended, the telescope measures 56″ (142 cms). The case is fitted with one terrestial and three astronomical eye pieces with trade label to the lid for ‘G. Dollond. Instrument maker to Her Majesty. 59 St. Pauls Churchyard, London’. George Dollond worked from this address from 1813 – 1851.

In excellent condition; the telescope gives a fine clear image.

 

Small repair to one hinge of the case.
