SOLD – A good lacquered brass library telescope with cabriole stand and steady bar, signed on the back collar, ‘R. Mills, Southampton St., Pentonville, London’.
The length of the telescope extended is 44″ (112 cms) and the height is 18.5″ (47 cms) with a main lens diameter of 54mm.
All in good working order giving a fine sharp image with a power of 42 x, in terrestial mode.
The case, which has had some repairs, contains two high power astro eye pieces with removable sun caps.
Robert Mills was succeded by his wife Harriott who carried on the business as optician and telescope maker 1851 – 1869.
