Description

A charming mineralogist’s magnetized needle in shaped case, France, early 19th century.

A complete set with a round foot, its stand and its original magnetized needl with agate cap.

This kind of mineralogical needle was used to know if a mineral or a rock was magnetic or not, so if it contains some iron or not.

Fine original condition. The leather joint of the box is entirely broken, otherwise genuine and excellent condition.

A quite early and rare example.

The needle measures a little more than 12cm lenght
