Pajot’s Forceps by Charriere with Aseptic Joint and Crotchet

Pajot's Jointed Forceps and Crotchet by Charriere

Country of manufacture

Categories: Medicine, Other Medical Antiques

A pair of Pajot’s forceps by Charriere with  “aseptic joint” that allowed for the removal of the blades. Unfortunately we are unable to turn the finger grips that allow the blades to be removed and suspect they will have to be soaked in oil. They are priced accordingly.  Hibbard claims   (THE OBSTETRICIAN’S ARMAMENTARIUM, 2000:119) that the removable blades were meant to be interchangeable but that this also aided portability; the forceps are  approx. 18″ or 45 cm  long.  Note the guarded crotchet point at the end of the handle.  The cut shown in last image is from Hibbard (2000:120)
