Description
SOLD – A three draw mahogany barrelled telescope signed, ‘Gilbert & Co, 148 Leadenhall St., London. Best Improved’.

The telescope fully extended measures 28.5″ (72 cms) and 9.5″ ( 25 cms) when closed. The main lens is a triple element glass with a diameter of 42 mm giving a magnification of 20 x.
The spare eye-piece gives a magnification of 32 x. Bothe give a fine, sharp image.
The height of the stand is 13″ ( 33 cms ). The telescope has a dust slider and lens cap.
All in good condition throughout.
The mahogany case has had some restoration (old crack to lid and base).
This is an early example of its type.
