Description
A rare Chassaignac-type mouth gage with ring called “dilatateur de la bouche” by Chassaignac himself and invented by the surgeon in the early 1850s’ and first made by Mathieu in Paris.
The present example is signed “Bataille à Bordeaux” and datable circa 1860.
It is in fine condition the plate and the ring seems silvered.
This special mouth gage was used in ENT with a tonsillotome.
Very fine and a rare French signature.
