SOLD – A substantial mahogany barrelled three draw telescope, signed, ‘Richardson, London’.
The telescope has dust sliders to both ends, the second draw is engraved with the makers name and additionally, ‘Adjustment for Greater Magnification Power’ and ‘ for Day or Night’, together with inscribed lines for correctly adjusting the drawtube.
A third draw is partially concealed and can be used for greater magnification.
Instructions for use are labelled to the inside lid of the case.
Barrel diameter 2.3 inches, length closed 14.75 inches and fully open 40.74 inches.
No cracks to the barrel, the telescope gives a good clear image when viewing.
The hooks & eyes are missing from the case.
There were various makers & opticians by the name of Richardson who worked in London from the late 1700s up to 1835.
