A c1870s Nelson tri-valve vaginal speculum by Shepard and Dudley working New York City. Fluted ebony handle. Some relatively minor loss of plating ( see images) but overall in very good condition. $150.00
Both in Europe and North America, the Ricord bi-valve was arguably the most widely adopted vaginal speculum of 19th-century. The Nelson tri-valve was not received as positively, with the result that fewer examples are found today.
