A good, silver-plated telescope by Gilbert & Wright, London, c. 1800. Silver over copper draw tubes, brass body, 3 ocular settings achieved by overlapping the numbers 1, 2, solar eyepiece cap, crown glass object lens of diameter 1 1/4″. Six ( 6″) fully extended, 2 3/4″ closed, 3 draws, some minor bruising to both ends. Minor wear to silver on ocular end. Case appears to be yew wood with horn banding (some sections missing). A rare and unusual item with excellent optics !!!
