Description
SOLD – Signed on the eye-piece slider, ‘Willson, London’, measuring 20″ long when closed and 35.75″ fully open with a main lens of 1.5″ diameter. The tripod and clamp measure 16″ in height, the telescope easily removable and the stand folds away for easy storage.
The telescope is very clear to look through, the lenses damage free. Some little nicks to the mahogany barrel. The brass has been cleaned but not highly polished.
George Willson worked from 1798 – 1812 in London. His address is recorded as Wardrobe Place, Doctors Common from 1799-1802. He was in business with George Dixey 1802-1809 with an address ‘Opposite St. James’ church, Piccadilly’.
