SOLD – A binocular microscope by Smith and Beck, as signed on the binocular tube, ‘Smith & Beck, 6 Coleman St., London. 2024’, dated from the Beck records as sold in March 1859, on a reversed ‘Y’ shaped foot. It has a good plano-concave mirror, substage collar, mechanical stage with X-Y control (missing top plate). With rack and pinion focussing and fine screw focus.
There is a 1″ Smith & Beck objective in canister and a similar 2/3″ and a 1/5th with correction collar, two low power eye-pieces, two medium eye-pieces, dark well holder and wells and other accessories …… please study photos.
The rack and pinions all work smoothly. The binocular prism is in place. The lacquer is very nice.
In original large mahogany case (lacking lock).
