Description

Square brass full circle with four sighting pinholes, the upper side of which is engraved with a double degree scale graduated from 0 to 180 twice. Inside is a large rotating compass with two sighting pinholes with index and a horizontal sundial with a movable gnomon in the centre.

Inside the compass is a 16-way compass rose surrounded by a degree scale graduated from 0 to 90 four times, with a blued steel needle mounted on a brass pivot, all covered by a glass.

On the back are four engraved circles and in the centre the screwed foot mounted on a removable turned brass ball joint.

The top of the turntable is signed “W. Sneewins”. Presence of a suspension ring.

In its original carrying case.
