Description

A good, large Schiek-type compressor/compressorium in solid brass made for the English market. Measuring 10 x 4.5 cm., it has an unusual pivot block and oversized rotating circle (3.5 cm.) for reversal of the upper pivoting lens/glass measuring 3.5 cm. in diameter. Used but not abused, this slide/coverslip mounting device must have been produced for a  professional slide maker. Very stable and meant to sit flat on the bench (no legs/pins), it has a fine thread knurled screw to raise and lower the arm. I have found no other example in collections or in the literature. One small knibble to lower glass.
