Austrian, vertical electromagnet interrupter demonstration apparatus, circa 1910
Mahogany base, lacquered brass and silk wrapped copper wire, vulcanite insulators label to the base;

Solid brass, iron cored electromagnet, heavily sprung multi adjustable contact interrupter, turning vulcanite insulated switch, gantry with rack and pinion vertical and screwed angled lateral adjustments.
Very heavy apparatus, I am uncertain of its final purpose.
In very good sound condition, apparently complete noting the coil may be short of some winding’s and the final fitting for the gantry is missing.
Osculates (buzzes) readily when connected to a battery.
Height of coil 9,1/4″ or 235mm, gross weight 13.4 kilos.
