Complete silver-mounted shagreen drafting set in excellent condition dating to circa 1750.

Small pocket drawing set comprising an ivory scale ruler, brass and steel dividers, brass and steel bow compass, and complete attachments for the dividers including inking tip, lead holder and brass extension arm that connects the two attachments to form a pen/pencil. The bow compass and ink pen attachment have hand cut steel wing-nuts.

The set is housed in a very fine shagreen pocket etui with silver moldings, silver hinge, and an elaborately worked silver cartouche engraved with the name “E. Atkinson, York,” most likely the owner. Interior of the case is lined in silver and red velvet. An exquisite example in its craftsmanship and attention to detail.
