Description
A good Victorian desk magnifier of small dimensions perfect for the philatelist/numismatist. Consisting of a solid brass base attached to an adjustable stem by friction fit. The plano-convex lens has no faults and rotates by friction fit on a steel rod. Blackened rim on the plano side and bright brass on the slightly convex side. Magnification is 2-3X. Threaded and turned base measures 6 cm. dia., bullseye is 5 cm. dia. (arm plus bullseye is 11 cm. long) and the max. height is 19 cm. The entire magnifier is surmounted by a knurled, tapering cone. Small amounts of tarnish to the bright brass on the base only. c.1860
