Description
SOLD – A good clean microscope, unsigned but the double nose-piece is signed, ‘R & J Beck Ltd’. It’s certainly an R & J Beck model, circa 1900, quite large standing 10.25 inches racked down ( 26 cms ) with rack and pinion focussing, fine focus thumb wheel and graduated inner draw tube. The base of the stand measures 6″ x 3.75″.
It has a sub stage diaphragm and condenser, adjustable via thumbwheel and rack. The plano concave mirror has a diameter of 2″. There are 2 eye pieces ( No 2 & No4 ), a nose-piece prism, a substage prism & collar (which pushes over the condenser), a 1.5″ objective in canister (canister signed ‘Smith & Beck, 6 Coleman St, London), a 2/3″ objective signed R & J Beck Ltd inside a 1/2″ canister engraved ‘W. Johnson & Sons, London W) and a No 6 Leitz objective in canister.
The microscope is very clean and retains all original lacquer but is not housed in its original case.
