Solid silver pocket magnifying loupe / telescope, circa 1800.
Similar devices were made by John Dollond of London.
A large lens and smaller sample platform (lens) with finger ring at one end.
Smaller lens with original black frosted glass edge, now partly worn.
The platform, a negative lens, has the dual function of acting like the first lens of a simple telescope.
The oblong section frame with slide out bed for focusing.
Large 30mm diameter front lens, smaller lens 16mm diameter.
Magnification approximately 2.5x.
2,5/8″ or 67mm long extended.
All in excellent condition and good working order.
In later Victorian fitted case.
