A fine military-type, black leather bound, hand-held telescope by Murcott, Haymarket, London. c.1880.
Near perfect leather barrel, 1 3/4″ object lens, extendable ray shade, perfect optics, no dents to the brass, 3 draws, 10″ closed, 32″ fully extended.
Theophilus Murcott, 68 Haymarket Street, London is recorded as a gunsmith with patents including #103 of 1871 for a hammerless shotgun. This is a rare opportunity to own a scientific and military instrument by a renowned maker.
