Description

A fine, well-preserved example of a classic French tonsillotome of the Velpeau type, based on the Fahnestock model which Velpeau modified/improved. The instrument is signed Charrière and datable to around 1850. It is a double-forked model with three rings and a lovely small guilloché ebony handle. The instrument is rust-free and in perfect working order. It measures 30 cm in length.
