A French Heurteloup’s Set with Artificial Leeches for bloodletting, ca. 1850

€650

Categories: Medicine, Surgical instruments, Therapeutic & Functional Aids

Description

A great French Heurteloup’s Leech set with a brass scarifier (with a rotating circular knife) and two artificial leeches. It comes in their original case, lined in velvet, marked “Luer”, ca. 1850.

After the cut had been made the glass tube would be placed over it and the wing nut turned to create a vacuum in the tube which would draw up the blood.

Instruments in very good condition, I can only notice worn to the case. In the inner cover the mark, now shadowed: “INSTR. DE CHIRURGIE – A. LUER – RUE ANTOINE DUBOIS”

Measurements of the box 14,5 x 10 x 4 cm.
