Description

A large model of microscope in perfect condition, signed on the microscope stand, “Nachet, 17 rue St. Séverin, Paris.” The instrument can be dated between 1881 and 1886.

This particular model is a transitional model that retains elements of the large model described in the 1881 catalog (in particular, the sliding movement for lowering or raising the diaphragms and condenser, which disappeared completely in the 1886 catalog) but incorporates elements of the large model from the 1886 catalog (such as the round mirror, rather than the octagonal one).

This model is in near mint condition. It includes:

– A two-column base;

– A rapid movement and a micrometer movement for adjusting the optical tube;

– A monocular optical tube;

– A 360-degree rotating stage;

– A movable table that mounts on the stage;

– A double plane and concave mirror;

– Four Nachet eyepieces: 1, 2, 3, and 3 with micrometer;

– A set of six Nachet objectives in case: 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 9 Immersion.

– The condenser lens mounted on its leaded base;

– A eyepiece camera lucida;

– A micrometer for the stage;

– Three diaphragms;

– A few dissecting instruments, only one of which is original, with its ebony handle.

Eveyything is preserved in its mahogany travelling case lined with velvet and purple silk.

A large Nachet, quite early, and in a rare condition of preservation.

The box measures 38 x 24 x 16 cm.
