Description

A triangular prism known as Newton’s prism and used in experiments on diffraction or the decomposition of light.

The large prism is mounted in a brass triangle connected to a knob that allowed it to pivot. The prism no longer has its sliding base.

It is of a good size, measuring 9 cm in height and 5.7 cm on each side.

Despite some chips on the corners and edges, it is in fairly good condition and in perfect working order.

A fine French signature of the one of the best instrument maker specialized in optical apparatus and polarizing apparatus during the second half of the 19th century.
