Following the founder’s death in 1823, his widow, Elisabeth Pichler, continued the business. From 1851/1852, the company was renamed A. Pichlers Witwe & Sohn (A. Pichler’s widow & son), after her son Franz Pichler had joined the management. In 1922, the publishing house was absorbed into the larger Hölder-Pichler-Tempsky group, which still exists today as a major educational publisher in Austria.
