Description
A spectacular Charles Chevalier universal microscope signed “Microscope Achromatique Universel de Charles Chevalier Ingénieur Opticien Breveté Palais Royal 163 à Paris”, circa late 1830’s or circa 1840, but not after 1849.
This particuliar model is impressive for its large range of different accessories including a very rare (for a Chevalier’s universal) and very early in general polarizing apparatus. The accessories are :
-the bulleye
-the micrometric stage from Turell
-a pancratic objective for dissection
-An electrical stage for water observation from Plossl
-two camera lucida
-a large Lieberkuhn objective
-two doublets for the simple microscope
-two original eyepieces
-one objective with a lot of different lenses including one with dark glass
-the two polarizing apparatus with their nicol prisms in perfect condition
-three set of slides including ten double slides of opake objects of minerals.
All the accessories can be stored in their original mahogany sliding and travelling case.
A very rare model with a so large collection of accessories and a rare polarizing version of the Chevalier’s universal microscope.
