Description

A fine silver and gilt-brass equinoctial sundial signed “Johann Willebrand in Augsburg 48”.

 

On an octogonal silver plate is fixed a gilt-brass and silver hour ring with engraved floral motif and divided 3-12-9 with its folding gilt-brass gnomon, a shaped gilt-brass latitude arc [0°]-90° subdivided to 2°, and a shaped and decorated gilt-brass support for plumb bob. 

On the middle of the plate, a silver compass with four-point rose SE, OR, OC, ME.

On the back, the signature of Willebrand and on the back of the compass the names and latitudes for 35 cities.

Everything is mounted on three turned feet.

Size is 5,2×5,5 cm.

Very fine condition.
