Description
A quite early suspension mining compass from the UK and from the late 18th century.
This mining instrument is quite large : the fame measures 18x228cm and the compass 10,2cm diameter.
The “W” for West seems indicated an Bristish origin.
If we find easy 19th or late 19th similar example, the 18th century are rarest.
The condition is general good with a nice needle.
