Description
An extremely rare model of solar microscope bearing the very rare signature on a microscope :
“A. Normand Ingr Opten / 21 et 23 Galerie Vivienne / Paris”, ei Amédée Normand.
Amédée Normand is, according with a advertisement published in 1866 “Maison Soleil / Ingénieur Opticien / A. Normand, élève de la maison A. Chevallier, successeur / 21 et 23 Galerie Vivienne”. He seems active during the mid-1880s’.
The present solar microscope is quite unusual incorporating two very unusual features ;
-the rack and pinion focusing mechanism patented by Bouquette in 1869 ;
-An rack and pinion internal diaphgram very unusual ;
Otherwise, the microscope is in pristine and beautiful condition and in perfect working order. It preserved all its screw and accessories.
A very rare signature and a very unusual microscope with great link to two important French families of optical makers.
The case, closed, measures 29,5×25,5x9cm.
