Description
This is a very rare form of a 18th century French brass graphometer signed and dated “Gourdin au Quart de cercle à Paris 1781”.
This graphometer is rectangular with two water/spirit level. It has no trace of balljoint and stand so was used directly on the plane or planchette or maybe hanged at the plane board.
Then the two levels was used to be sure to work on the right plane.
We cannot trace another similar example of graphometer and the idea and general construction is close to the full circle
A very rare signed and dated French surveying instrument.
The condition is excellent. Size is 19×11,8 cm.
