Description
A Charrière amputation saw is by ‘H. Windler’, in good solid condition with small losses to the chrome plating in places, mainly the inside top of the handle. The saw measures 38cm (15″). H. Windler was a German surgical instrument maker active between 1850-1900, based in Berlin known for high quality surgical instruments which were often included in sets and cases.
Medical items such as these were made to the highest quality standards as cost was not the main factor and they were necessarily made in small numbers and so are becoming increasingly rare. This is a substantial and important collection.
