Description

An early 19th-century, patented, cylindrical enema with a sit-down mechanism. Height as in first image: 10″ or 25cm.The cap is stamped “NEGASSEK INVENTEUR BREVETE PARIS with his hallmark. A copy of his 1819 patent claim  is shown in the last image.After filling the well and raising the flange, the user sits down on the latter,  driving the piston into the well and expelling the liquid into the rectum.. A near identical device is shown in Bidaux & Lepart’s Étains Médicaux et Pharmaceutiques (N.D., c1960: p. 83)–see 7th image.
