Description

A fine equinoctial compass sundial by L. Casella, London as signed and dated (1897) to the horizontal chapter ring. The silvered dial measures 2″ across and has a centrally jewelled needle, lockable via a small lever to the side. The chapter ring has a diameter of 2.75″. The latitude arm is engraved from 0 – 90 and there is a folding gnomon bar to the centre. Mounted on three adjustable feet with bubble levels. The base is engraved ‘M.I.O.’ which I believe is for the Ministry of Indian Ordnance.

Contained in mahogany case, dated 1897.

In total original finish condition.
