Description
An antique cased sextant by Parnell of London dating from the early 19th century. The sextant is in good original condition with three telescopes, in it’s original oak case with brass handle, screws and latches, the sextant sits on a green felt base. The sextant is held and secured by a mahogany handle (small chip to top) affixed to rear of the brass arc. The brass arc has an inset vernier scale in silver with fine screw adjustment, clamp and swivel magnifier for precise readings. The three telescopic sights speak to the fact that this is a quality officer-grade instrument. All the filters remain in place. A very high quality nautical instrument that has been cared for and in exceptional condition for a 200 year old instrument.
