Very rare high-power objective by famous makers Powell & Lealand in excellent cosmetic order. According to online sources Powell & Lealand introduced their 1/12th inch Apochromatic objective around 1894. This example No. 66 will therefore most likely date to the late 1890s.
In terms of condition, the lacquer finish is mainly intact, it seems to be free from old crusty immersion oil on the exterior surface and it looks like it’s got some degree of internal contamination to the internal optical elements, but maybe still usable with care. It’s untested but a fantastic find for a P&L collector. Find another!
The objective will be well packed and shipped by Royal Mail.
Thanks for looking.
