Josef Ginovszky

(4. 4. 1800 in Töltzek near Eperies Hungary – 7. 5. 1857 in Leoben, Styria Austria) 

studied at the Acadamy of Fine Arts Vienna, painted in Vienna and Leoben, mainly Genre, Hunting, and Mining Scenes. 

Oil on wood, c. 25 x 17,5 cm, signed lower right “Ginovszky”, in the original gilt wood frame with carved hammer and pick sign on top; the frame with maker’s label “Franz Jeschke / Vergolder / wohnt auf der Wieden Waaggasse No 487 / in 1ten Stock / hat sein Verschleissgeschäft Lobkowitzplatz”

The Wissenschaftliches Kabinett Simon Weber-Unger exhibits at the Hofburg Antique Fair in Vienna, the Residenz Antique Fair in Salzburg, the antique scientific instrument fair in London and at antique fairs in Zurich and Munich. Simon Weber-Unger is the head of the antique scientific instrument department and antique camera department at the auction house Dorotheum in Vienna and has published articles about scientific instruments in several magazines.
