Description

An early 20th century brass ‘Bell’ pattern frame sextant by Heath & Co Ltd, Crayford, London, as engraved to the arc. Also engraved to the arc, ‘J.M. Heath. R.N.’, whom the sextant belonged to. The name is also engraved to the brass plaque on the lid.
The Bell sextant was classed as Heath’s No 1 in their line of sextants – the top model.
All mirrors and shades are very good and without damage. The instrument is quite clean and is damage free.
The silver vernier reads to 10″ of arc and the silver scale reads from -10 to 150.
The case holds 3 telescopes, two telescope eye shades, screwdriver, mirror adjusting pin and a Patent Greatest Angle Clamp.
