Description
A collector/museum has a very large compendious microscope case once containing Cuff-type/Jones-type/Solar microscopes and these are perhaps the missing spares. Judging by the dimensions, the Jones-type (probably by Adams/Bleuler/Dollond) would have been close to 50 cm. tall, fully assembled. These parts all exhibit early diagonal roping/knurling of the brasswork and are abnormally large. The part solar microscope is now included for the same price + postage. (see last 4 photos).
1) Lower body tube is 10 cm. long with a 36 mm. upper and 23 mm. thread diameter for the lenses
2) Substage condenser 23.5 mm. diameter
3) Additional lower body tube (substage extension) 23.5 mm. diameter
4) Double layer Bonanni sprung stage insert (46.5 mm.) on square bayonet flange (50 mm.) as seen on Pritchard models
5) Substage cone 37.5 mm. OD
6) Live box (glass intact) 35 mm. upper OD, stage insert diameter 29 mm.
7) Brass/glass aquatic slider 95 mm. long
8) Brass talc box 26 mm. long
9) Additional eyepiece (uncovered) with 34 mm. fine threads
10) Rotating wheel of lenses/beads (4 of 6 intact) for Jones-type microscope, 40 mm. dia. with threaded cap (20 mm.)
Dimensionally these microscopes must have been massive. I even have a part solar microscope that may have come from the same compendium. The upper rack and pinion section (for slider insert) is missing but may have been used as a hand held option. Measures 20 x 12 x 12 cm. (see photos). Same early roping of the brass. Mirror 50%. The case to hold all of this hardware must have been at minimum 40 x 30 x 20 cm. deep.
