Description
Tall cylindrical sundial, known as a shepherd’s sundial, made of turned boxwood. Unsigned, but French, dating from the first half/mid-18th century.
The dial is in very good condition, and the boxwood has acquired a beautiful antique patina.
The brass gnomon is beautifully carved (no missing parts).
Beautifully turned at the base of the cylinder and rounded shape of the rotating cap, equipped with a brass loop for hanging the instrument during use or transport.
11.5 cm high including the hanging loop and 3 cm in diameter.
