Very early brass microscope manufactured at the end of the 19th century based on the stand II, in an excellent state of preservation. It does not have serial number, so I asume it was made before he began sistematically numbering them in 1883.

Description
Antique Austrian Reichert microscope, manufactured in Vienna, Austria around 1880, in good working order and condition. The microscope features a horseshoe-shaped base in black enameled metal and brass; the upper section combines brass pieces, some gilded and others black, with chrome-plated metal. The brass shows some signs of wear from age and use, which lend this instrument a unique patina of authenticity. The design includes a revolving nosepiece with three lenses, all original to the brand, and two eyepieces. The rack and pinion mechanism works well and moves smoothly, allowing for precise focusing of specimens. The manufacturer’s name is engraved in cursive script on the tube, but the serial number is missing, as although Reichert began manufacturing microscopes in 1876, he did not begin systematically numbering them until 1883. The microscope is housed in a beautiful, perfectly preserved mahogany case.
This antique Reichert microscope, with over 150 years of history, is one of the first he manufactured and shares many features with Leitz microscopes; not surprisingly, he was Leitz’s son-in-law. After marrying Leitz’s daughter, he moved to Vienna where he relocated his business.
