Description

The Ecraseur, also known as the “French Twist” has played a significant role in surgical procedures and veterinary medicine. Originally designed as a tool for animal castration, it soon found applications in human surgeries.

Invented by Chassaignac, a French surgeon in the mid 19th century, it was deemed to create a more efficient and less invasive method for castration in animals and the removal of tumours in humans.

The Ecraseur (from the word “ecraser”) translates as to ‘crush’ or ‘squeeze’, a term for the surgical operation known as ecrasement, by means of which tumours, piles, polyps, and other growths may be removed without the effusion of blood.

Chrome on brass. Press the side levers and pull the handle to tighten / slacken the chain. 13.5 inches (long not including chain).
