Description
A very rare forme of an optical compendium forming a triple lens eyepiece telescope and a simple microscope and called “Lunette Microscope Breveté à Paris”, French, no signature, circa 1840-1860.
The spyglass is a classic but very nice brass and mahogany triple lens eyepiece pocket telescope with three different magnification, complete with its cap.
The spyglass can be transformed as a simple microscope by adding after the rotative triple eyepiece lens a second eyepiece lens (including two lenses) and by using the lens numbered “0” of the spyglass. After the second objective lens is a rotative specimen holder preserving two slides with insects.
The microscope works perfectly, see the last picture.
An extremely rare forme of an optical compendium and a simple microscope, unrecorded.
Despite the instrument was engraved “patente” we cannot be able to find an appropriate patent.
The condition is perfect, the instrument is in genuine condition, untouched and its original travelling case.
Case measures 16cm lenght.
