Description
Cased set of petrographic/petrological/polarizing and centering objectives by Carl Zeiss, Jena c.1890.
All signed and serialised with early lettering system used only by this German manufacturer.
Maroon case measures 15 x 11 x 5 cm. with brass clasp/hasp and dark blue velvet interior. Marked “Schlitten Objektivwechsler” (sliding objective changer).
All objectives are mounted on heavy bayonet/bevelled flanges/collars with worm and screw adjustment by square key (will find).
The objectives (from upper left) are as follows:
1) Apo. a* (1 1/2 inch) with correction collar
2) A (3/4 inch)
3) D (1/6 inch, 0.65 NA)
4) 100X ( 1/12 inch oil immersion)
5) DD (1/6 inch, 0.85 NA)
6) AA ( 1 inch-high end objective)
All exterior lenses appear to be good condition-could probably do with a light cleaning/dusty. Some light scratches of the exterior brasswork. Correction collar works flawlessly. Canisters available if you wish to use them as part of an optical array in box. According to the Watson 1896 catalogue, these objectives were available for the van Heurck petrographic optional tube and other objectives were made by Powell and Lealand, Reichert, Leitz, etc. I have professional Watson/Oehler-type objectives on tapering, slotted and bevelled centering flanges as well as eyepieces for the top models.
