Description
A fine 5 inch (12 cm.) lacquered brass, fully compensated aneroid barometer by Wilson, Warden & Co., LONDON. c.1915.
Marked with the broad arrow on backing plate, this fully functional barometer has bevelled glass, a knurled brass bezel to adjust for altitude (0-7000 feet), Compensated B and accurately measures from 24-31 inches of mercury (bag tested). Blued steel needle, outer ring measures atmospheric pressure to 1/10 and then 1/100th of an inch. Near perfect silvered dial. Serial number 4316. Heavy oval ring and bracket so that the barometer may hang in a laboratory setting or in the field. A number of these barometers are on the market (usually produced in France) with thin outer skin and round, threaded suspension loop. This is a very substantial field/lab instrument and weighs close to two pounds ( 1kg.).Minimal scratches, golden lacquer, perfect glass.
